Our story
Most people who call us say the same sentence. We should have called a year ago.
Marriage Medicines began with something simple. People needed help.
We were not setting out to start a ministry. People started coming. They came after service, when everybody else had gone home. They called at hours when nobody calls unless something is wrong. And what they brought us were not the kinds of problems that disappear after a Sunday message.
Communication had broken down. Trust had been damaged. Infidelity had come into the house. Some couples still loved each other and no longer knew how to live peacefully in the same rooms. Some had already said the word divorce out loud. Others were carrying wounds from childhood, from old relationships, from rejection and betrayal and abuse, that nobody had ever given them a chance to properly deal with.
And it was never only couples. Singles wanted to know how to choose wisely. People preparing to remarry were discovering that a second marriage asks questions the first one never asked. Single parents were carrying weight that nobody around them could see. Pastors kept ending up in the middle of complicated marriage situations without the time, the training, or the resources to walk anybody through them.
What became clear to us was this. Marriages did not need more encouragement. They needed practical help. Somewhere to talk honestly. Biblical truth that could actually be applied on a Tuesday afternoon. And help understanding not only what was going wrong, but why it was happening and what to begin doing differently.
That burden became Marriage Medicines.
The name says what we believe. When something is sick, you do not stand over it and condemn it for being sick. You find out what is wrong, and you begin applying the right medicine. Sometimes the medicine is communication. Sometimes it is forgiveness. Sometimes it is repentance, or boundaries, or learning to listen, or healing something that was broken long before the wedding day. And sometimes the first medicine is simply having a safe place to finally tell the truth.
Coach Juliana carries a side of this work that a marriage cannot do without. Her burden is for the person, not only for the relationship. Because very often the problem showing up inside a marriage did not begin inside that marriage. People bring their histories with them. Childhood. Family patterns. Rejection, abandonment, fear, loss. Ways of surviving that protected them once and are quietly damaging them now. She helps people look underneath the argument they are having and understand the story they are actually carrying. Women ask for her by name, and there is a reason for that. She will tell you the truth, and then she will stay in the room while it lands.
Today the work reaches further than we planned for it to reach. Counseling and coaching for couples, singles, individuals, families, single parents, and those preparing to remarry. The School of Marriage. Coach Juliana's books, and the Marriage Playbooks we give away free, because the person who needs help most is very often the person who can least afford it. The Single Parents Boot Camp. Training for pastors and church counseling teams. And a growing work in Pakistan, where our teaching is being translated so that language never becomes the reason a family goes without help.
It still begins the same way it began. Somebody needs help, and somebody picks up the phone.
